Buncombe Wins Achievement Awards

The National Association of Counties (NACo) has announced their 2014 Achievement Awards and Buncombe County is a multiple NACo 2014 Achievement Award WinnerAchievement Award recipient.

  • The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office has received a 2014 Achievement Award for its program titled “Community Oriented Problem Solving (COPS)” in the category of Criminal Justice and Public Safety.
  • Health and Human Services was awarded for their “Community Safety and Security Team: a Community Threat Assessment Team Process” in the category of Risk Management and for “Western North Carolina Diversity Engagement Coalition: Realizing the benefits of a diverse and fully engaged workforce” in the category of Employment and Training.

Commission Chairman David Gantt said that “these awards are the result of the hard work of a dedicated and passionate work force that tackles complex issues with creativity and enthusiasm.”

The NACo Achievement Awards seek to recognize innovative County government programs that go beyond the norm and display a creative approach to meeting a community need; enhancing employee productivity and showing measurable results.
