The ribbon cutting for the new Buncombe County Judicial Complex is on November 7 at 2 p.m.

Be one of the first to see this beautiful facility in downtown Asheville.  Make sure to bring an item for the time capsule to commemorate the opening of the facility.

The first phase of the project began in 2010 with the addition of the life safety tower which included  stairway access and new elevators in the 1928 courthouse.  It continued with the removal of the jail cells from the top three floors of the old courthouse and the renovation of those floors into 33,000 square feet of office space.

The new construction of the 4 story complex completes the entire project and includes five court rooms and associated court offices as well as room for additional expansion.  This project is anticipated to meet the facility needs of the court system for the next 30 years.

The new complex allows for video arraignment and secured access for court personnel.  An improved security entrance and other security measures throughout the building, have been included for the welfare and safety of the public who access this facility every day.

The November 7 ribbon cutting ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. with refreshments and limited tours of the facility to follow.
