Tomatoes III - Care of Mature Plants & Season End - June 20 or 23


Extension Master Gardener John Hew will give tips on the care of mature tomato plants. This is the final presentation in a series of three.Extension Master Gardener John Hew will give tips on the care of mature tomato plants.

You will learn about:

  • Pruning for shape and yield
  • Determinate vs. Indeterminate
  • Missouri method
  • Stacking, cages, metal stakes, tripods, frames, spirals, do nothing
  • Suckers - plant them in July
  • End of season

The class is Wednesday, June 20 at 1:30 p.m. in the classroom at the Extension Office, 94 Coxe Avenue, Asheville. Free. (This program repeats on Saturday, June 23 at 9:05 a.m. outdoors at a different location.) 

The same presentation will be repeated on Saturday, June 23 at 9:05 a.m. at the EMG Demonstration Garden at Manna Food Bank, 627 Swannanoa River Road, Asheville, NC 28805. Rain or shine. Free. The garden is at the back side of the parking lot across from the brick administration and distribution building. Bring your own chair, sun hat, umbrella, etc.
