Childhood Immunizations
According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC),
every year 3.2 million children survive because they
have been immunized. Another 2 million die because they
were not immunized.
Buncombe County makes it easy to get the immunizations
your child needs. You can walk in at any time during
clinic hours for your child's shots. All shots needed
for North Carolina schools are free.

There are certain ages your child should
get their shots. Children usually get their shots at
birth, 2 months old, 4 months old, 6 months old, 12
to 15 months old and 4 to 6 years old. These were chosen
to make sure children are protected when they need to
be.

Immunization schedules provide the most
effective timing and spacing of vaccines. It is important
to stay on schedule. If you get off schedule call and
speak to a nurse about the best way to continue. Remember,
it is OK to get several vaccines at the same time. This
does not increase reactions to the immunization.
Remember to always bring your child's
Lifetime Immunization Record to every health care visit.
