Buncombe County's Adult Guardianship Program works to provide the best possible quality of life for those who have a public guardian appointed by law. Our clients include folks who may suffer from one or more onset illnesses associated with advanced age or adults who have suffered debilitating injuries. Guardians serve as surrogate decision makers acting on behalf of the best interests of their client. These decisions typically include the client's needs and living conditions. Guardians are available around the clock for emergencies and are prepared to advocate proper care and services. Guardians, however, cannot force a client to receive medical treatment, prevent self-destructive behaviors or stop a person from leaving an unlocked facility.
Please call with any questions and concerns regarding the Guardian Program and its services.
