Do You Know What a Yellow Ribbon on a Leash Means?

Do you know what a yellow ribbon on a dog's leash means? A yellow ribbon is a way for you and your children to identify that you need to proceed with caution. The dog may not be child friendly, may have anxiety issues, or may be overly excited. Either way, caution should be applied when approaching.

Buncombe County and the Asheville Humane Society are partnering for Project Yellow to raise awareness and education about dogs that need a little extra space. A yellow ribbon doesn't necessarily mean the dog is aggressive or unfriendly--it could mean the dog is new with their handler, under medical care or in foster care for assistance.
