As a result of the Clean Up Candler meeting held last Thursday at Enka Middle School, the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office has received a generous donation to make a purchase to benefit the Candler community. Jerry Greene and his family, who are residents of the Candler community, donated $7,000 to the Sheriff’s Office for the purpose of purchasing a speed trailer to be placed in Candler. The donation was made after speeding, especially around school zones, was noted as a concern at the Clean Up Candler meeting.
“I am very appreciative of the Greene family stepping up to make resources available to help our officers make an impact in our community,” Sheriff Van Duncan said this morning. “This is a great example of the community working with their law enforcement to make their neighborhood safer.”
The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office is appreciative of this generous gift that will improve the safety of the Candler community.
