The week of May 11 – 18 is Strive Not to Drive week.
Strive Not to Drive is a campaign to encourage individuals and organizations to use another mode of transportation other than driving alone. Bus, carpool, walk or bike to work during the week and join hundreds of others in Asheville striving not to drive. It’s a great way to improve your health, cut down on pollution associated with cars, decrease traffic congestion and make our community a nicer place to live and work.
If you have thought about carpooling, taking the bus, walking or biking to work, Strive Not to Drive Week is also a great opportunity to try it out. The City of Asheville will begin operating its new bus routes with more frequent operation on major routes and 2 new convenient cross-town routes. Maybe you live many miles from town or even outside the county. There are still ways that you can participate. Meet a co-worker part way and carpool the rest.
For the third year, the campaign has launched a worksite challenge. Workplaces will compete against organizations of similar sizes for the most SNTD participants and be eligible for prizes.
What do you need to do to participate?
All you need to do is register for the challenge is to fill out the online form. Make sure that you indicate your organization.
Once you have registered, you will receive additional information on Strive Not to Drive events and how to make your commute successful during the challenge week.
