Tax Department - News

Our goal is to give our citizens as much public information about tax assessments and collections as possible. Our website is updated each night with recent collection information. You can also find real estate assessment values, neighborhood sales information, parcel history information, and answers to many other real estate questions.

Please note that all property values are assessed as of January 1st each year. We mail personal and business listing information to current properties set up within our system. Should you be new to our area and need to list property, you can find the listing forms and telephone numbers here on our website. Please note, our real estate, business property, personal property tax bills are mailed out in mid August of each year.

Motor vehicle tax bills are on a different schedule. When you register your vehicle with the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles, the DMV office will forward your vehicle information to us to assess and create a bill for you. Vehicle tax bills are prepared monthly and normally become due the third month after a vehicle has been registered.

Beginning with the September 2013 vehicle tag (license) renewals, you will pay your tax bill at the time of renewal to the North Carolina Department Motor Vehicles (DMV).

North Carolina provides several types of reductions to assist Elderly, Disabled, and Veterans with property taxes. Please check our website to find out more information and see if you qualify.

I hope you find our website useful.
