Mountain's Most Wanted for August 2015

CrimeStoppers is an important way for members of the community to anonymously provide information about criminals and criminal activity. Your anonymous tips are invaluable for law enforcement officials, and could lead to a cash reward.

In 2014 the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office received 400 tips that resulted in 29 arrests. The community members that provided the tips received $9,100 in total rewards.  The success is thanks to the help of citizens who want to make a difference in their community.
How does this program work?

  1. You can make an anonymous call to CrimeStoppers at 828.255.5050. We take the information and get your date of birth.
  2. The information will be forwarded to the appropriate agency and division.
  3. Later, when you contact CrimeStoppers to check the status, the coordinator will inform you of the arrest. The coordinator will then get a physical description of you, give you a receipt number, and a time and place to meet with a board member.
  4. You will meet at the designated time, and the caller will have to write their receipt number on the paper, and will receive his/her cash reward.

It sounds like a lot of steps, but it’s actually quite simple, and you will be walked through the entire process.
