StoryWalk with LEAVES

Come enjoy the autumn leaves as you walk with your child on a FREE walking tour of David Ezra Steins’ book LEAVES at the Buncombe Photo of park with a page of a book attached to the fence.County Sports Park in Enka.

StoryWalk® is an exciting initiative that combines a children’s story with a popular walking route. It includes physical activity with literacy and gets people of all ages out walking while reading. Pages of a book are transformed into signs that are then laid out on a trail inviting families, children, caregivers, teachers and others to follow the path of pages.

The Library, Recreation, and Culture Department of Buncombe County has created a StoryWalk® around the Playground inside the Buncombe County Sports Park in Enka, 58 Apac Drive, Asheville, located on Sand Hill School Road just past Sand Hill Venable Elementary School.

The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, Vermont and developed in collaboration with the Vermont Bicycle & Pedestrian Coalition and the Kellogg-Hubbard Library.

David Ezra Stein’s book LEAVES will be highlighted through the end of November. Look for the special question at the end of the story to be entered into a drawing for a prize. We hope everyone will Come Out & Play!... and Read!
