Medicaid is a health insurance program for certain low-income and needy people paid with federal and state dollars. It covers more than 1.5 million people in our state, including children, the aged, blind, and/or disabled, and people who are eligible to receive federally assisted income maintenance payments.
There are several different types of Medicaid programs in North Carolina. The Medicaid Coverage Groups page lists a brief explanation of each type of program and its benefits.
