General Statement of Duties
This position will supervise, train and manage Income Maintenance Caseworkers. The Universal Income Maintenance staff performs all Income Maintenance functions within Economic Services, such as but not limited to, Food & Nutrition, Family Medicaid, and Adult Medicaid. This position provides detailed needs and analysis and justification reflecting trends in utilization of income maintenance programs. (#2641, 2547) 

Examples of Work
The position evaluates the work and performance of all supervised positions for adherence to Federal and State standards regarding the quality of work required in processing income maintenance cases and maintaining the agency mission. Position will perform duties as a representative of a public agency and is subject to high standards for personal and professional conduct.  

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Considerable knowledge of all income maintenance programs, forms, and documents used in determining eligibility. Considerable knowledge of the use of the income maintenance manuals. Considerable knowledge of needs, problems, and attitudes of disadvantaged persons. General knowledge of all agency programs and services. General knowledge of community services and programs which could affect the client/applicant. General knowledge of the budget process. Good mathematical, reasoning, and computational skills. Ability to instruct, organize, direct, and supervise lower level employees. Ability to learn basic supervisory/management skills. Ability to communicate effectively with workers, supervisors, applicants, and community agencies to obtain pertinent data and to interpret rules and regulations. Ability to present information orally and in written form. Ability to efficiently and effectively interact with co-workers to accomplish common tasks; Ability to have efficient and courteous interaction with the employer’s customers; Ability to function in highly stressful circumstances; Ability to maintain high level of professionalism and to conduct business in an ethical manner at all times.
 

Minimum Education and Experience
Three years of experience as a caseworker or investigator in an income maintenance program, preferably with one year of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
