The Buncombe County Health and Human Services Clinic offers a range of services to support your health. Our skilled healthcare professionals ensure that you receive appropriate testing and treatment and take the time to answer your questions. Services are available to men, women, transgender and non-binary individuals. We are here to help you take care of yourself so that you can meet your goals.

Appointments are confidential and low-cost. Our location is 40 Coxe Avenue, Asheville, NC 28801. We are open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Call us at (828) 250-5000 for more information or to make an appointment.

Services Include:

Breast and Cervical Cancer Control STI Testing/Clinic

The HHS Family Planning Clinic provides important preventive and reproductive health services. Services are available to men, women, transgender and non-binary individuals.

Services include:

  • Pregnancy testing
  • Discussion with a knowledgeable professional about your reproductive life plan (your goals about if and when you want to have children, and how to achieve those goals)
  • A wide variety of birth control, including long-acting reversible methods (IUDs and contraceptive implants)
  • Emergency contraception (IUD or pill)
  • Free multivitamins with folic acid
  • Sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment
  • Testing for cervical cancer (Pap smear and HPV testing, if appropriate)
  • Breast/chest exams and referrals for mammograms, if indicated
  • Referrals for permanent birth control ("tubes tied" or vasectomy)

Our Immunization Clinic is open Monday- Friday from 8-5. We accept walk-ins on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday between 8-11:30 AM and on Tuesday and Thursday between 1-4:30 PM. Please call (828) 250-5096 to make an appointment if our walk-in hours don’t work for your schedule.

Getting immunized is easy! Our Buncombe County Health and Human Services Immunization Clinic is located at 40 Coxe Avenue in downtown Asheville.

TB Skin testing is offered Monday, Tuesday and Friday by appointment or during our walk-in hours Monday and Friday 8-11:30 AM and Tuesday 1-4:30 PM. To make an appointment, call (828) 250-5096.

Eblen Charities

The following services are now provided by Eblen Charities:

Elementary School Dental Screening, Assessment, and Referral

Dental screenings are scheduled in conjunction with all Buncombe County and Asheville City elementary schools’ annual health fairs, which occur in the fall of each school year. Grades that currently screened are kindergarten, second grade, and selected fifth grade classes. Students determined to need immediate dental treatment are referred to their School Nurse who will assist parents in obtaining dental care for their child.

Second Grade Dental Sealant and Oral Health Education Program

The Children’s Dental Sealant program provides sealants and basic oral health education to 2nd grade students in targeted Asheville City and Buncombe County Schools. The program operates through strong community partnership with AB Tech, Eblen Kimmel Charities, and many community dentists and their dental staff.
