Memorial Day Ceremony and Veteran Stand Down Events Taking Place

Buncombe County honors veterans who have devoted their lives to support our country. The County will participate in events taking place this month to offer resources and commemorate veterans’ contributions.

2024 Buncombe County Veteran Stand Down

The County will participate in the Buncombe County Veteran Stand Down, a one-stop shop opportunity for veterans who are experiencing some degree of homelessness to receive multiple services and learn about the community resources available to them.

Services include health screenings, dental assistance, mental health resources, housing/shelter assistance, haircuts, training opportunities, and more. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

The event takes place on Wednesday, May 22 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Stephens-Lee Recreation Center at 30 George Washington Carver Avenue in Asheville.

The event is hosted by the Charles George VA and Veterans Services of the Carolinas (VSC).
